I like your “you never know” point, Casey. It’s a good thing to remember.

Great reminder about (1) the power of story in all our communications and (2) you never know the back stories of the people you might meet. Knowing someone’s story completely and immediately changes the relationship.

One less thing on the list.
Thanks Daphne.

Hmm, interesting question. In my view, your illustrations are the equivalent of a piece of writing, so, no, I don’t think you should need to write brief stories. That said, be sure to CAPTION the pieces so that you are able to introduce them. Hope this helps!

I love your newsletter, though I am an illustrator, and I wanted to ask you a question. I have just set up a blog (julia.binfield.blogspot.it) with the aim of complementing my website with recent work. Should I tell brief stories about the pieces there or is it irrelevant?

I’ll look at my blogging in an entirely different way from now on.

On behalf of storytellers everywhere, thank you for this great post!

I’m a big fan of your blog and your 8 1/2 steps book.

Those of us who work in the storyworld help businesses and individuals tell better stories and we appreciate your support.

I’m passionate about this idea – “When we know better, we do better.” So, on my blog, STOrythatMatters, I use the digital space to tell better stories about brands, businesses, people, ideas etc.

It’s here http://www.wakefieldcommunications.com.

I’m excited about a recent project I just finished that used research, storytelling and video to tell a transmedia story about an experienced, successful building contractor. The objective was to showcase his style of doing business – he takes his work personally and always tries to put himself in his clients’ shoes.

It’s here on YouTube

In my world stories are truly everywhere. I was recently invited to a choir practice and was so impressed by what I learned (unexpectedly) that my next blog post is about what the business world can learn from singing in a choir – ie deep listening skills and how to bring many voices together in harmony.

Storytelling is becoming a really hot business topic too. I’ve just been invited to guest blog about storytelling on a PR and social media site which I’m absolutely thrilled about.

Would love to see more content on storytelling in the future Daphne.

Keep up the great work on your blog!
