I try NOT to read books that don’t catch my interest! When that happens I either throw the book across the room or return it to the library. I don’t finish it and it doesn’t go on my list! Life is too short to read books like that.

Yeah made me feel good, I am a horrible speller. Google “did you mean this” is a lifeline for bad spellers like me. If you read a book a week do you find very often a book doesn’t catch your interest?

Thanks for your recommendation, Harry. It sounds like a really good book and it’s going straight on my list!

The authors are Elisabeth Sifton and Fritz Stern. The book name is, No Ordinary Men, sub-titled Dietrich Bonhoeffer and Hans Von Dohnanyi – Resistors Against Hitler in Church and State. The writing is superb and graceful, and the well documented story is awe inspiring and painful to read. And the people you will read about were of extraordinary character.

Thanks for the recommendation. I’ll bet my son, who is dyslexic, would LOVE The Spy Who Couldn’t Spell!

Suggest watching the movie first to get the basic gist. As well as the Spy who couldn’t spell. Loved it not only because it was a great story but his bad spelling made me feel better, thank god for spell check

Not Tonight, Josephine: a story about a road trip through small town America
Everyday is a Holiday.
Free Country: A penniless trip through A penniless adventure the length of Britain

As a fellow Canadian the first book was particularly fascinating because he looks at America through the eyes of someone whose only understanding of it was the movies.
The second book was his story to celebrate a new holiday every day, stuff like eat canned food without labels for a month day or Bubble Wrap Appreciation Day or Milk a cow in the air day. You’d think it’d be a really dumb book but he pulls it together brilliantly. Kudos to his wife for going along with some of his crazier schemes.

The last book was the first one I read and a few spots were a bit dry but overall a very good book. Starting with nothing but a pair of boxer shorts (each) they did the whole trip relying entirely on the kindness and donations of the people they met. The humour might be a bit boyish at times but I really enjoyed it

I became addicted to audiobooks when our kids were young. We found they were the best way to keep them engaged whenever we were taking trips involving long drives. For a while after that, I started listening to audiobooks myself, too. Now, however, I tend to listen to podcasts, instead….
