There’s no downside to ebooks. (I think, on some platforms like Amazon you might even be able to make more money on them.)

Thank you for replying Daphne… Yeah I’ve heard that the U.S. is pretty open to thrillers unlike here. I was planning on self-publishing my work here in my country with limited copies only, and for the other countries I’m gonna have it on ebook format.

Have you thought of trying to publish in countries where thrillers ARE appreciated? I know they do very well in the U.S.

People don’t really like my genre (thriller) here so I get nothing but cricket sounds whenever I try to promote my work and post parts of it.

Sad when a certain genre dominates the market, the rest are totally ignored.

In my experience, people tend to fall on one side or the other: They find editing easy and fun (and dread writing) or have no difficulty writing (but find editing hard and tiresome.) Isn’t it interesting — and frustrating — that we should be built this way?

I can say that writing comes easier and I know how much work editing is. I have the greatest of respect for editors, especially ones like you who can bring out the best in a piece of writing. I seek editorial partnerships in my writing projects, and I also do collaborative projects. I enjoy figuring out the best way for writers and editors to use their strengths to create a good publication, anthology or book. I guess I’m so busy I don’t have time for reptilian brain to kick in!

I feel the same way about learning music. It’s hard for me to play the piano in my very stumbling way after hearing my son dash off a bunch of arpeggios with seemingly little effort. (Of course, he’ll be graduating with a degree in music in May!)

Good point. Things that appear “effortless” are usually the opposite!

I used your post as a basis for a post on Fit Is a Feminist Issue about training envy. Thank you! http://fitisafeministissue.com/2016/03/31/how-to-rid-yourself-of-bodytraining-envy/
