It is indeed amazing. As someone who has had two strokes, I’m VERY grateful for neuroplasticity!

I couldn’t agree more!

I like your separation of yourself from the work. Really good idea!

My work product is not me. Fixing the work is much easier than fixing myself.

S & G’s list is a great checklist for avoiding the downward spiral of catastrophizing the outcomes of any act – “I can’t do this because [x, y and z will happen and they are all terrible and terrifying]”.

So sorry about that! Reading time varies for every person and I’m going by the web-related “norm” of 300 words per minute. (People often skim rather than read thoroughly on the Internet.) Now that you know my formula, I’m hoping you can adjust it for your own preferred reading speed?

They are obviously a speed reader. It took me around 5 minutes to read this artcile, and to begin to digest the very interesting Schwartz and Gladding info would require two or three times that. This graduate degreed (but obviously inferior) reader would appreciate a more realistic estimation of how long these fine posts take to read….or shall I just plan to double or triple the times mentioned?

Thanks for the page references. Maybe I’ll get the book from the library. Sounds like it’s not one worth spending the cash on!

Agree totally.

The neuroplasticity info is very useful for those of us getting a bit older or instilling good habits in the young, alas, you have to get to page 184 for the good stuff to start. Also, some transparent product shilling.

30 to 50 pages of good content in a 200+ page book.

Typical self help :(.

Deserves a better book. But I don’t know where else this is well covered. 🙁 🙁

OK, will trust you and check it out although I’m always wary of books that scream out for a rewrite!
