Yes, Brian Tracy has a great book on this concept called Eat That Frog! (i.e.: do the thing first that you most dread.)

I also pick things that I can do quickly, so that it looks like I’m accomplishing a lot. Progress on the minute (both definitions work) things ties up dangling ends that can really annoy me.

Once I clear away some of the chaff, my brain becomes free to effectively do the most important stuff!

Standing is amazingly effective!

I have tried the pomodoro technique and it works really well for me. I also find the defuse mode of thinking while running, walking or doing any other physical exercise very helpful. I like the idea of standing while writing! Sometimes I prefer to stand up when I discuss, argue or just brainstorm about something. I will definitely try it with writing! 🙂

Yes, I use that phrase, too! I prefer to write first thing in the morning and then edit slightly later in the day when I’m more awake.

I often say, ” Write in haste, edit at leisure.” To be more productive, I try to use the time when I am at my best to edit , which calls for more focus and concentration. Sure, you need to focus on writing too but more often than not we don’t get it right the first time and have to edit what we write eventually.

I’m scattered and check Twitter, Facebook, and email too much. However, I get ideas for my glorious philosophy of my textbook information from doing it. I will add something to my ultimate proposal preliminary after I tweet this statement and follow the author.

First thing after breakfast, I write. After that, I have the rest of the day to play, run errands, etc.
