Yes, she was a nightmare. But that was 15 years ago now and I’ve gotten over it! 🙂

That first client you mentioned is a nightmare! How can people be so inconsiderate? (Is it just me, or is a lack of consideration for others more common than it used to be?)

Thanks for sharing all this, Daphne. Great information, advice, and cautionary tales.

Where do you live? Was it perhaps the same client? 🙂

I think the main thing to remember is to treat your clients with respect. That’s the secret ingredient that’s so often missing from today’s business interactions.

I was giggling at the story about your ‘brand new client’ as I had a narrow escape from a similar one recently. I sent my details in answer to his job ad, which looked meaty and interesting. A few hours later he called me. After spending the first ten minutes telling me how wonderful he was and his business, and how lucky I was that he was calling me, he suddenly asked for my age. When I asked why he replied, “I want someone under 25, young and hip, that knows what social media is all about. Anyone older doesn’t.” Cue exit. Fast. Whewwwww

The good news is I learned to respect the “red flags” instead of trying to fix them. It was a hard lesson, though. And the rest of your article is excellent.
