You’re very welcome. I just returned from holiday and, yes, I use a checklist for that, too!

I prepared checklists for both work and personal use. I never travel without preparing and checking off every item on my list beforehand! Thanks for this.

I’ve never climbed (although my daughter loves the sport). But it strikes me as interesting that we’ve developed checklist “systems” whenever there’s a risk of injury. Shouldn’t that tell us something about its usefulness??

Your description of the Do – confirm type reminds me of the communication commands that happens between climbers in rock climbing.
On belay. Belay on. Climbing.

Yes, like you, I live my life by lists!

Good point about reminders and attaching dates. I just noticed Evernote has that function too, although I never used it. Time to put it to the test!

Aha. Sounds like a lot of my lists will be “do-confirm” – reminders, but most likely different each day, whereas “read-do” are the ones that are pretty much repetitive each time. I started making some lists and looks like I have master lists and sub-lists. I like it though, certainly takes a load off my mind trying to remember everything when I have more than one business or project on the go (I have consulting work, a small angel fund that I grow and manage, a book to publish, a personal blog, and family to manage!)

I don’t know if Reminders on the iPad allows you to attach dates to items, but, if it doesn’t, you might want to take a look at Wundnerlist, which is free and a really excellent tool.

Hi Bonnie, My “daily morning list” is a “read-do” list because it’s all written down and I put a little check mark beside each task after I accomplish it. My writing checklist is a “do-confirm” list because it’s so short and easy that I have no difficulty remembering it. Here’s how I handle that “do-confirm” list: I check in with myself before writing and ask myself “Have I done enough research yet?” Then, “Have I done a mind map yet?” And, finally, “Am I remembering to write WITHOUT editing?” All of these things are pretty second nature to me so it’s pretty safe to leave this to my memory. Does that help?
