Thanks for your kind words, Dean. Good for you for taking up the piano! At least you have the math gene on your side. (I am totally lacking in it!) The Circle of Fifths is making me CRAZY right now!

Mostly, I write PowerPoint briefings. I do mathematics. Program computers. But, I look forward to and read your blog every week. Your suggestions and comments are every bit as relevant to my pursuits in the technology domain as they are to someone who might be classified as a writer. And by the way, I took up piano recently, at age 59.

That’s a very interesting point, Lori. I’ll see if I can find it documented anywhere.

Apparently also helps prevent brain-related hearing loss, because you’re practicing your ability to distinguish pitch.

You can be creative at anything. However, I think when it comes to studying an art, your creativity increases as you study the techniques. Oddly enough, the more you study your technique, the freer you become.

Persistence is the truly the key to success.

We see how much effort a baby puts in learning to talk by imitating the sounds he hears, and crawl and then walk so he can get to objects which are out of his reach. They never seem to be discouraged . As adults we sometimes forget how much effort mastering any new skill takes. Watching the Olympics should help us remember talent is important but it is long hours of training that wins medals .

Thanks, Bob. I’ve changed the “an” to an “a” (I’d originally used the word “interesting” but decided it was too weak). I don’t think there’s an error at the end of the intro, though… I wrote: creativity doesn’t even count on the list of concerns you should fret about. The negative is contained in the “doesn’t”, isn’t it? Or am I missing something?

You have missed a “not” at the very end of the intro; and it seems later you added “fascinating” but forgot to change “an” to “a”.
Your list provokes much thought, as always. I see myself as generally “creative”, but not much so in writing. That doesn’t disturb me, and I take comfort from your reassurance.
