Ooo, be sure to give mindmapping a try. It’s the closest thing I’ve ever found to a magic bullet for writing!

Good Morning Yes – pens, pencils, and flip pads are wonderful. I use them when away from the computer. Mindmapping is new to me; but, I will use this technique as well – with pencils.

You know, I felt the same way in school (for me, this was BEFORE the invention of the desktop computer, never mind laptop!). But it had always struck me as counterintuitive that note taking by hand would be better. I’m glad to know it is…

In school, I handwrote practically every word that came out of a teacher’s/professor’s mouth and it was so helpful for processing. I need to get back to that.

Yes, but Thompson makes the point that pencils (or pens) are better suited to taking notes and mindmapping. No one else will see those products so don’t you think it makes sense to put up with your “bad” spelling if it helps you do better work?

typing on computers allows my fingers to keep pace with my swift moving thoughts. So – I will keep using my computer; besides it helps my spelling too.
