Thank you, I do write after going to office, for 5 minutes, mostly what I saw in my dreams, and any conflicts. It helps me.

Yes, journaling is a great idea. But ANY type of writing you can do daily will help.

It keeps ideas fresh in my head and helps keep the momentum going. One thing I just started doing is journaling about my progress for the day and how I’m going to tackle sticky problems. I have a feeling that this might be another helpful boost.

I just want to endorse your idea of taking a caffeine tablet. Many people might think this sounds unorthodox and perhaps dangerous but it’s no different from drinking coffee (or some types of colas) and it allows you to control your dosing better. I used caffeine tablets to get myself off Diet Coke, which I drank daily for several years. (Switched to caffeine pills for a couple of weeks and broke the habit, easily.)

Just be aware that your body adjusts to caffeine over time so you might want to change your dosing daily so your body doesn’t become too accustomed to it (and thereby seek ever higher doses.) Most drugstores sell caffeine tablets in several different doses so you may not need to cut it down to a quarter, if you can find a small enough does. Drip brewed coffee typically has 80-130 mg caffeine (although Robusta coffee has almost double that).

Caffeine content for starbucks coffee is here: http://coffeetea.about.com/od/caffeinehealth/a/Starbucks-Caffeine-Contents.htm

I love it,
I was not able to write in the evenings because I was so exhausted. But the morning hour is mine. By now, I even get up early on weekends (6 a.m.) to write. And I am happy.

O.k. I go to bed pretty early (between 9 and 10 p.m.) but to be honest I don’t miss the evenings in front of the TV or Surfing the internet that much.

Cheers from Germany,
Stefanie

It always amazes me how much writing is like a form of exercise…

My goal in writing is brevity and often I find as I crank out my crappy first draft the sentance will pop into my head! The previous sentence is 22 words, my draft was 75 and going strong!

Yeah, that’s true. I have a journal where I write letters for my daughter. I also have tried morning pages.

But I wonder if there’s a way to apply this that may help me be a more productive writer, I don’t know.
