Added to my hit list recently are over-used words and phrases. Some began working their way into my own conversations: “The truth is…” “Absolutely”. “Exactly”. Translate any of those to mean, “I was not listening to whatever you said.” Quickly becoming popular is “chipping away at the Fiscal Cliff”. I mentioned in a reply awhile ago, civics, civility, civil discourse, and rhetoric taking on new meanings. I caught variations of those by watching C-Span for five minutes yesterday.
