Thanks for raising the point about finding a niche, Rob. It’s a very good idea. You get all sorts of economies of scale if you have a niche. Also, having a niche makes it easier to build a reputation more quickly.

The second point is to think of it like a business. You have a product that you need to sell, You have to package it, market it, find clients etc. As you said, writing is one small portion of it.

For me I can write and publish a book but to make any kind of income I had to build a business model around it. And that’s where the really hard work is. Research and writing has been easy compared to the effort of building a brand around my idea
