I like your expression “perfect for that job.” Great way to think about it!

Perfectionism also manifests itself in making it hard to let go of a project and editing something to death — even reports or meeting minutes. I did that. One thing I learned was that perfect means perfect for that job, not the perfect in my head. The other thing it was hard to get past when approaching writing something like a book as a new writer is editing like crazy as you write. It took signing up for National Novel Writing Month, where you crank out 50,000 words in 30 days, to get me to just write and stop trying to fix every word as I wrote it. I don’t think I’m a perfectionist any more. Or if I am, it’s in remission. I’m writing my third book now! Thanks for your great advice.

Thanks for the idea of a blog post about co-writing. It does present some very specific challenges. I will try to tackle that topic soon.

Great post, as usual ! Thanks !
I was about to send you questions related to this post “difficulty to write when you are a perfectionist”.
I also have the feeling that researches’ work is never finish (I’m writting a technical book); I never have enough information !!

Did you write any blog post about co-writing ? Actually I’m writting with another author and it’s quite difficult to find the right voice when we are 2 !
Have a nice day 🙂
