So glad you enjoyed the article, Melissa. I, too, disagree heartily with Kimball. Of course cooking is creative!! I’ve never seen his TV show but will make of point of looking for it on your recommendation.

Incidentally, I’ve been copying the NYTimes article for the last few weeks (see my piece on copying:

http://bit.ly/xWjrRa) and I’ve found the exercise absolutely fascinating. Am learning the bad stuff (to avoid) as well as the good. For example, the writer uses far too many super long sentences. This hampers readability. But he uses quotes judiciously and inserts his own opinion very skillfully. The piece offers lots to learn!

I disagree heartily with Mr Kimball’s statement that cooking isn’t about being creative. That is exactly what it is…or what it should be. I do enjoy his TV show though – now that is creative !
Thanks for the new word, too – I enjoy learning new “$40 words” – they are great for Scrabble.
