I’ve found Freeplane to be a great FREE tool for mindmapping (whether for writing projects or other kinds of brainstorming, planning, and idea organization).
I use Dashlane for password management.
For those in the NYC area: Lynda is a great learning resource, and it’s available free to NY Public Library card holders.

Still working fine after six years or so. I bought it through Costco.
I also really like Levenger products–their circa notebooks with removable sheets of paper. Just bought a beautiful leather laptop/purse backpack on sale from them. Stuff can be pricey but they have frequent sales and now it’s part of my “equipment” –and I love it. Makes me want to set up shop anywhere and write.
